Westwood XC Running Routes

For each run, our staff organizes runners into pace groups and makes adjustments as needed over the course of the week. Our staff—made up of collegiate runners and high school coaches—review safety rules and maximize training through effective pack running. Staff provides all runners with guidelines we do a combination of different types of runs over the course of the week: morning shakeout stretches and runs (most mornings), aerobic training runs around Pittsfield and Burbank Park on Sunday and Thursday, a hilly run in Pittsfield State Forest ("Including the Berry Mountain Challenge Run") on Monday, an aerobic training run at Springside Park on Tuesday, an anaerobic interval workout at Camp Winadu on Wednesday, and a long run on the Ashuwillticook Rail Trail on Friday. On the first night at camp, all runners are encouraged to set goals for the week for their long run and their workouts—all based on their current fitness level.
